Terms of Use
This is a private family portal created exclusively for the Lidia (Fandrich) Egert Family. Access to this portal is by invitation only.
- Family Access Only: This portal is intended for family members and authorized guests only. By using this portal, you confirm that you are an authorized member of the Egert family community.
- Credential Security: You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential. Do not share your username or password with anyone else. Do not use anyone else's account.
- Account Responsibility: You are fully responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, including any changes made, messages sent, or data accessed. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact the portal administrator immediately.
- Intended Use: This portal is provided for family communication, event coordination, and sharing family information. You agree not to use it for commercial purposes, advertising, or any unlawful activity.
Privacy & Data Collection
We collect minimal information necessary to operate and secure the portal:
- What We Collect: Your name, email address, contact information, IP address (when you log in), login timestamps, and browser user agent information.
- Why We Collect It: This data helps us operate the family directory, authenticate users, secure your account, detect unauthorized access, and investigate security incidents.
- Security Logging: IP addresses and login times are logged for security purposes. These logs help us identify suspicious activity and protect your account from unauthorized access.
- No Third-Party Sharing: We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with any third parties. Your information stays within the Egert family portal only.
- Server Location: All data is stored on a secure private server hosted by Hetzner Cloud in Helsinki, Finland. Your data is protected by the same security standards used for enterprise infrastructure.
- Encryption in Transit: All connections to this portal use TLS/SSL encryption (HTTPS). Your data is encrypted while traveling between your device and our server.
Communication Permissions
- Directory Visibility: By accepting these terms, you agree that other family members may see your email address in the family directory and use it to contact you.
- Email Contact: Family members may use email links in the directory to send you messages. These messages are sent directly from their email to yours—they do not pass through the portal.
- Portal System Emails: You may receive system emails from the portal, including password reset links, security alerts, and important notifications. You cannot opt out of critical security emails.
- Opt Out of Directory: If you prefer not to have your email visible in the family directory, you can request this by contacting [email protected]. Your contact information will be restricted, but core account access will remain unchanged.
Data Security
- Password Protection: Your password is hashed using bcrypt, a secure one-way encryption algorithm. We never store, view, or have access to your plain-text password. Even our administrators cannot recover it.
- Session Management: Your login session expires after 12 hours of inactivity, or 30 days if you enable "Remember Me." This protects your account if you forget to log out on a shared device.
- Failed Login Protection: The portal tracks failed login attempts. After 5 consecutive failed attempts, your account will be temporarily locked. This prevents attackers from guessing your password.
- Activity Logging: Logins are logged with timestamps and IP addresses for your security and for detecting unauthorized access.
Your Rights
- Data Access: You can request a complete export of all your personal data held in the portal. This includes your profile, messages, and any records associated with your account.
- Data Deletion: You can request that your account and associated data be permanently deleted. Deletion is final and cannot be reversed.

Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
Your continued use of the portal after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you should stop using the portal.
